3D Gingerbread Fire Engine

In Norway at Christmas it is traditional to make a gingerbread house and display it in your house. Last year we went to IKEA and bought one in a box and made it, but it was a bit boring. So this year we had a bigger plan. A fire engine made of gingerbread. It even tasted good!

3D Big wheeler 4WD cake

A friend of my son was having his 3rd birthday and he really wanted a pink big wheel 4WD cake. So when he came to me and asked me to make him a cake I couldn't resist. I mean, how often would you get the chance to make a pink car cake? Here's what happened.

3D Excavator cake - THE DIGGER

The boy who has everything wanted "an excavator....no, a police car"........ cake for his birthday. For the month leading up to his birthday I asked him almost daily what cake he wanted . And it was pretty clear there were only 2 contenders but it was impossible to get him to decide on one. The excavator seemed easy enough....oh yeah, except for the arm. The there was the police car. Could probably handle that one too. Then I discovered a 3d car cake tin on ebay. Decision made right? Well anyway, somewhere along the way I decided just to make them both.

3D Teddy Bear Cakes

For my daughters first birthday I thought it would be nice to make a teddy bear cake. As usual I set my sites on making it 3D. Luckily I was trawling through ebay one day and discovered the wonderful Wilton 3D teddy bear cake tin. Not quite as easy as it looks. Don't forget to grease and flour the tin very well:)

Anyway, I got a bit famous for this cake. So when a friend needed a cake to take to daycare, I was asked to make another one. I think I really cracked it the second time around!

A marzipan easter cake

Sometimes I just can't give up until I win. I've never been much good at sponges. They always, always flop. So I decided to crack it. And boy did I!! Nothing better than a lovely sponge filled with fresh cream, homemade strawberry jam and covered in marzipan.
